Inert substance superficially mimicking a medicinal product.

placebo [SWEDISH]

Avser oftast en tablett utan något aktivt läkemedel, en s.k. blindtablett. Placeboeffekt är alltså den effekt som inte beror på läkemedel, utan på förväntningarna man har då man tar ett läkemedel. Placebo används i s.k. kliniska prövningar där man testar nya läkemedel för att kontrollera deras effekt.
