T lymphocyte (T cell) [ENGLISH]

White blood cell of the adaptive part of the body's immune system. Immune cell of lymphatic lineage. Most T cells are αβ (alpha beta) T cells with TCR composed of two glycoprotein chains called α (alpha) and β (beta) TCR chains (with exception of γδ T cells that have a TCR that is made up of one γ (gamma) chain and one δ (delta) chain.) see also T helper cell, cytotoxic T cell, T regulatory cell, gammadelta T cell, NKT cell.

Vit blodkropp som utgör en del av den adaptiva delen av kroppens immunförsvar (se även T-hjälparcell, cytotoxisk T cell, T regulatorisk cell, gammadelta T cell, NKT cell). Uttryck av ytproteiner (cluster of differentiation = CD) används för att definiera typ av T cell och deras funktion. Deras funktion är till viss del adaptiv, exempelvis kan en CD4+ T-hjälparcell eller en CD8+ T cell bli en T regulatorisk cell i en specifik mikromiljö.
