Uniting hospital pharmacies for excellence in ATMP implementation.

The Hospital Pharmacy Network for ATMP is a national collaboration to facilitate the implementation of ATMPs within the healthcare system. Representatives from each University Hospital Pharmacy meet on a monthly basis since 2019 to collaborate and share knowledge and experience regarding the handling of ATMPs.

The Hospital Pharmacy must always be involved in the introduction of ATMPs in the healthcare to ensure that the products are handled with maintained quality and that applicable regulations are applied, for example the Swedish Medicinal Products Agency Regulations (LVFS 2012:8) on the supply of medicinal Products to hospitals  and The Act (2009:366) on Trading in Medicinal Products. In practice it means for example responsibility for the dispensing of all ATMPs that are delivered directly to the hospital. It also includes the responsibility for the preparation of in-vivo gene therapies classified as GMM (Genetically Modified Microorganisms) that are implemented in health care.
