Swetrial
CurrentSwetrial is a national partnership in which Swedish stakeholders work together to create the best possible conditions for more, responsibly conducted clinical trials in the country – in pursuit of new treatments, improved well-being and a healthier future for all.
Why Swetrial is needed
Clinical trials are essential for progress in healthcare, research and industry. They give patients access to new treatments, as well as contributing to the development of precision medicine and other innovations.
Sweden has long been a leading nation in life science, with around 10 per cent of the country’s export revenue deriving from pharmaceuticals and medical technology. Our strength lies in our unique combination of a goal-driven climate of partnership, a strong research structure, clear regulations and international collaborations. In making it easier for you to conduct clinical trials in Sweden, we are further cementing Sweden’s status as a life science nation.

On behalf of the government, the Swedish Medical Products Agency has established a secretariat and an external council to facilitate cooperation between the various contributors. The secretariat is responsible for communication, business intelligence, follow-up and allocation of funds. The council supports the secretariat’s long-term work, focus and stakeholder engagement.
