ATC-kod

ATC code [ENGLISH]

The Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical code: a unique code assigned to a medicine according to the organ or system it works on and how it works. The classification system is maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO).

En alfanumerisk sjuställig kod för olika klassificering av läkemedel uppdelade efter läkemedlets verkningsmekanism. Det är oftast den första bokstaven i det engelska ordet för gruppen. Bokstäverna bildar ett ATC-register (anatomiskt, terapeutiskt, kemiskt klassificeringssystem) med 14 huvudgrupper indelade i undergrupper efter terapeutisk, kemisk eller farmakologisk funktion. ATC-systemet används av alla nordiska länder och i WHO:s internationella rapportering av biverkningar.
