DNA

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) [ENGLISH]

Genes are composed of segments of DNA, a very long molecule that carries a cell's genetic information. DNA is made up of two antiparallel strands that are held together by weak chemical bonds between base pairs of nucleotides. DNA is comprised of the four nucleotides based on these four bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T).

En deoxiribonukleotidpolymer som utgör den grundläggande genetiska substansen i alla celler. Eukaryota och prokaryota organismer har normalt sitt DNA ordnat i dubbelsträngade strukturer, men i många viktiga biologiska processer ingår under vissa skeden enkla strängar. DNA, som består av en flersockerarts-fosfatstam med utskott av puriner (adenin och guanin) och pyrimidiner (tymin och cytosin), bildar en dubbelspiral som hålls ihop med vätebindningar mellan purinerna och pyrimidinerna (adenin mot tymin (AT) och guanin mot cytosin (GC)).
