Beskriver sambandet mellan en given dos av ett läkemedel och den koncentration av läkemedlet en patient får i blodet. Detta bestäms av ett antal faktorer som alla har att göra med hur läkemedlet behandlas av kroppen: hur väl det tar sig in i kroppen, hur det fördelas i kroppen samt varifrån och i vilken utsträckning det förs ut ur kroppen.
