The transfer of hematopoietic stem cells into an individual so they can home to the bone marrow, self-renew, and produce all the cell types of the blood including red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells.

Överföring av blodstamceller från benmärg eller blod mellan individer av samma art (homolog transplantation) eller inom samma individ (autolog transplantation). Transplantation av blodstamceller (hematopoetisk stamcellstransplantation) har använts som alternativ till benmärgstransplantation vid behandling av ett flertal cancerformer.
